Healthcare reform is soon approaching, Minnesota Comprehensive Health Association (MCHA) enrollees will have new options for health insurance. As of Jan. 1, 2014, insurance companies can no longer reject your application for coverage because of your pre-existing health condition. You will be guaranteed coverage for the same premium as others your age.
We are expecting that enrollees will be able to find comparable insurance plans from all major carriers in Minnesota, many at better premiums. With this new and broader market, the need for MCHA will soon disappear and the organization will eventually close its doors.

Starting Oct. 1, 2013 (for coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2014), you will be able to compare and purchase individual health insurance plans through a new online marketplace called MNsure. You can also work directly with an agent who can assist you in finding the best plan. MrHealthInsurance.Net will be able to assist you through the online selection of new plans on the MNsure exchange or private exchanges.

Through MNsure, you may qualify for tax credits to help pay for your premiums. Enhanced benefits, such as no annual or lifetime maximum and no cost preventive care services, may also be available to you through these new plans.
MCHA and its regulatory agency, the Minnesota Department of Commerce, are working hard to help make your move from MCHA to new coverage as smooth as possible.
